The Jungle Adventure is Green Acres’ signature trail! Ride through three distinct environments – you’ll start in the open pasture, where you settle into a rhythm and find your seat. Then comes crossing the creek on horseback, and after that, the jungle closes in overhead.
Inside the canopy, the air cools, the light shifts, and the trail narrows just enough to feel like an adventure.
For riders who want to open it up, trotting and cantering sections are built into the route where the terrain allows.

The first hour opens with an active and adventurous trail through open fields, and picking your way through creek crossings on horseback.
Then the trail opens into the cool, clear stretch of creek under the jungle canopy for your swim stop. Enjoy chips and salsa, local sodas and juices, and no particular reason to hurry. Enoy the ride back to the ranch. Guests often say these moments of the horse beside you, the jungle overhead, and creek around your feet, is the single best thing they did in Belize.

Ride into the jungle. Dismount. Enter Xibalba, a cathedral of stone that the ancient Maya considered sacred, and that most visitors to Belize will never find.
Actun Balam, the “Cave of the Jaguar”, is Green Acres Ranch at its most adventurous. This is a genuine archaeological site: cathedral chambers, crystal formations, and evidence of ancient Maya ceremonial use that few visitors to Belize ever witness.
The approach trail is approx 2 hours across multi-terrain and demanding, varied elevation, and jungle canopy. When you arrive at the cave entrance, you dismount and spend approximately 1.5 hours exploring on foot with your guide: moving through stone chambers lit by headlamp, reading formations that took millennia to build, and standing in spaces where the silence is complete. Refreshments under the canopy set in the jungle eenergizes and rounds out the day before you ride back to the ranch.
